Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A BlogHer Book Club Review

**This is a paid review for BlogHer. All thoughts and opinions are completely my own.**

I have had no time for reading lately, which really shouldn't be a surprise.  I had actually decided a couple of months ago to take a break from the Book Club, but then I got an email about the Bloggess' book 'Let's Pretend this Never Happened' and I though "SCORE!  I ALREADY READ THAT!"  So, welcome to my review of a book I read a year ago because I am SO ON TOP OF THINGS!

Okay, really I am not on top of things, I just find the Bloggess hilarious in that disturbing kinda way.  Do you READ her?  Have you seen the outfit she wore to watch the Twilight movie?  Have you seen her post about the kangaroo?  the "knock knock mother fucker" is of my favorite photo captions from a blog EVER.  EVER!  It just tickles me.  How can you read those two links and NOT want to read Jenny's book??

So 'Let's Pretend This Never Happened' is a enjoyable, even if a lot of the stories she tells are on her blog if you are a long time reader.  I loved hearing about her taxidermy dad, her meeting her husband and being sure he was gay, even when they started making out, her struggles with mental illness and fears as she became well known as a blogger, her work in HR and her battles with RA.  She is funny, she is odd, she is... well.... she is the Bloggess.  She has built a huge following because she is an amazing story teller, and she has an... unusual view on life?  Is that a nice way of saying it?  If you think she is funny on her blog or on twitter, you will think her book is funny. If you think she is crude and rude and odd on her blog and twitter, you think find her book crude and rude and odd.  She is who she is, in print or online. I for one, adore her.

We will be discussing 'Let's Pretend this Never Happened' with BlogHer Book Club for the next month.  Come join the conversation!

  1. Omg, I couldn't finish this book. I love her, too, she makes me laugh out loud. But the book was just so... forced or something? Like it wasn't funny at all. And I was sad. :(

  3. I had never read her blog, but picked her book up on a whim a few months ago after seeing it on a bunch of Best of 2012 lists. I laughed until I cried! My husband was playing video games while I read most of it, and I kept having to stop him so I could read excerpts of the book to him. Love it so much, I recommend it to everyone. (Except the ladies from my church, because...yeah.)
