Big Boy Bed

Big Boy Bed
Someone moved into a big boy bed this week.
Big Boy Bed
A couple people in the house seem really pleased with the change!

I know this is a little earlier than some people do a toddler bed, (online it said kids are ready between 18-36 months, so it isn't unheard of) but Henry seemed ready. He LOVES to do things himself, and the fact that he can now get into his own bed is very exciting for him. I wasn't sure he was ready, but Nick wanted to give it a try. Last night was night two, and for two nights in a row he slept through the night in his own bed. So... so far so good!

**So the bumper pad. Yes, I know they say to take them out. We DID take it out for a long time, but once he was allowed to have soft things in his crib again we put it back. It keeps him from sticking his legs between the slats (A game that can last HOURS) and he loves to talk to the animals.

  1. I've been debating about this myself. I did a post on it last week, and of course I got conflicting advice. That's what happens when you ask the internet about your parenting decisions! I'm glad that it seems to be going well so far, that's reassuring!

The pic of the dog in the bed with him is SOOOOOOOO cute. Do they sleep together too? That's what I was looking forward to about getting a cat, but since she's allergic .... that has to wait.

  2. What a big boy! But, aren't you afraid of him climbing out in the middle of the night? You are brave :)

  3. I totally would have let my kid stay in his crib til he was 10, if he would have cooperated. Unfortunately he started climbing out of it when he was about 2 1/2, thus necessitating his move to his "boy boy bed". However, because he kept geting out of that, we had to put up a baby gate at his doorway to keep him contained. Mostly I was afraid he would get out and into mischief without us hearing. Good luck, Henry! It's such a momentous thing, moving out of the crib...

  4. I am going to cry the day my daughter moves to a toddler bed. lol I am prolonging that for as long as possible for two reasons: 1. I'm not ready for her to be that big; and 2. I'm not ready for her to be able to get out of bed whenever she wants and raise a ruckus. I need her to have containment time still. lol

Glad to hear it is going so well so far. I hope it continues that way. :)

  5. LOVE the pics! He is just so cute!

I'm keeping mine in cots until they're about 3 (Kendra may stay for longer) :) I like that they're contained.

Of course if they start climbing out, all bets are off
