I think I Speak for all Mom's of Toddlers...

When I say, screw you Daylight Savings Time. We have enough sleep issues around our house without tossing in a "what you thought was seven is now six" wrench into the mix. You would think the worst it could be is that Henry wakes up at his normal time, forcing us to not enjoy the extra hour of sleep. But oh no, havoc as been released onto our sleeping hours. He sobbed when I woke him from his nap at 4:30 yesterday (he had been asleep three hours) because he was still tired. And yet he woke up three times in the night last night, making his official up for the morning call at 5am. FIVE. A. M. I mean, before the time change he slept until somewhere between seven thirty and eight thirty. So five...five is just...cruel.

So yes, screw you time change. I see no need to mess with our body clocks. Especially the clock of an 18 month old. ESPECIALLY when it only lasts eight weeks and then we have to switch back. I believe you just have a mean spirit, and like to watch us cry.
Mama and Henry-Self Portrait
Henry says: Sheesh Mama, relax. Sleep is WAY over rated anyway.
Mama says: Easy for you to say, Henry. You get a nap in the middle of the day. Lucky.

**PS. That eye color...it's still anybodies guess.**

  1. Amen sister!

I said very similar things to my 18-month old this morning at 5am. He was amused by my diatribe.

  2. TRUTH!

Plus it happened when I am on bed rest and cannot help Rocco.

    Woe is us.

  3. Oh yes. Although I was not as nice as you in telling off Daylight savings time.

Experience tells me the early morning wake ups don't last long. I am holding on to that and hoping it's continues to be true this year.

  4. Oh no :o(

When I worked in my first nursery it was so weird when the clocks changed because all of the babies were completely thrown by the change. You really don't think how big a deal it is when you get older, but for the young ones who rely on their body clocks far more, it makes a massive difference... I hope things settle down for you soon (and also, I did wonder how I got a comment on my blog from you so early today!! Thanks for contributing xx)

  5. I understand how you feel!! I tried to keep A up for an extra hour Saturday night, but it didn't seem to help at all. He was all messed up yesterday and in a horrible mood... :( Big bummer!

  6. Yeah! Screw you!

Especially since my kids were up at 4:00 a.m. for the three days prior to Daylight Savings.

  8. The time change thing wasn't as annoying as it is now with a baby. Now, I bite my thumb at it. It is the stupidest thing EVER. EVER!

  10. Screw the time change indeed. We've been up with the kid at 430 the last several mornings. I figure by the time we finally get adjusted, the freaking time will change again. Grrr....

  11. Oh I feel your pain! I think it's making everyone around our house extra irritable.

And yes, 5 is cruel. But my toddler seems to be on the same schedule. Maybe there's a conspiracy we're not aware of.

  12. I had the grandmother have a "talk" with the girl yesterday. That got her to sleep until 6 this morning. But I also kept her up past her bedtime last night as an experiment. Something worked. Now lets see if we can replicate it.

Why do we do daylight savings anyway?

  14. *flips daylight savings the bird*

I don't understand why we have daylight savings. I think it is all a load of crap. Energy savings my butt. Benefit to retailers, yeah right. I think it's all a hoax.
