Damn Endo

Looks like my endometriosis is back with a vengeance. It has taken a nice little break from bothering me ever since I was able to switch birth control from the one specifically for breastfeeding mothers. I am now on one that I can take for three months straight. I have actually been doing that for a long time (like five years) but this was the first pill that actually worked for me. Not in the "preventing birth" sorta way, they have all worked just fine and dandy for that, but in the "preventing cramping and bleeding and all around miserableness for three months in a row" sorta way. But all good things must come to an end, and we hit the end of the three month cycle. There is no getting around a miserable week at least four times a year.

So the cramping has started. The terrible back aches have stared. The being sick to my stomach has started. I was at Babies R Us with my sister (BABBBBEEEEE!!!!) and I started cramping so bad I seriously couldn't stand. I went home and spent the rest of the night laying down. I took my pain medicine and it helped. I woke up this morning feeling worse than yesterday morning, but better than last night. I don't have a lot of hope for the next two days. It just seems hard to imagine how my endo fits in with being Henry's mom. In the old days I would spend a few days in bed laying on the heating pad. That doesn't really fit into my life now. So we will see. Hopefully this wont be a terrible cycle. Hopefully things will be a little more bearable. Hopefully the cycle will be close to over before Friday when I leave to meet my new niece or nephew. Hopefully. Damn endo.

  1. Oh i'm with you on that one!

I'm seeing my gynae next week - last week was terrible in terms of period pain for me too. Gosh - the things we go through andyes, I dream of the days when I could go home and LAY AROUND DOING NOTHING :)

those days are gone forever unless I can convince the babies to play quietly without getting into trouble :)

  3. I'm so sorry to hear this.

Have you considered the Mirena Coil? I had one fitted in 2005 during my first laparoscopy, because I had tried numerous pills and nothing helped (the combined pill actually gave me high blood pressure, and the mini pill made me anaemic thanks to bleeding daily etc)... anyway, I had a bumpy start with the Mirena for the first three months, but I think that was more due to the fact that there were complications with my lap rather than adapting to the coil. After that I had two years completely symptom free. Let's not go into the fact that since then I have had regular cramping (but still no bleeding and definitely not the 3 or 4 day long cramping that puts you in bed kind, just exhausting having the milder cramps more regularly.) But, for 2 years I had zero symptoms!!! I just thought that it might be worth considering, if you haven't already...

Anyway, I do hope that you feel better soon: Endo really does SUCK!

    xx

  4. Sarah,

I have been a follower of your blog for quite awhile but never commented. I also have endo and have had it for about 25 years, it is horrible. I also had to do IVF to have my son, who is now nine. I'm actually having bad cramps and backache as we speak. It does make it hard sometimes with a child but as a mother you just do what you have to do. I have had several laps for it but it just keeps coming back. Hope you feel better soon...
